Introduction

Altera ASI_SDI SC card is an optional daughter card which plugs into santa cruz connector of Altera development kits. The daughter card features a cyclone II device (EP2C5T144C6) and along with the NIOS II CycloneI/II development kit can be used to demonstrate digital video broadcast asynchronous serial interface (DVB-ASI) and serial digital interface (SDI) solutions. The card, along with Cyclone II NIOS II development kit, can also be used for the Video over IP reference design demo. Target applications include broadcast, studio and imaging applications. Altera offers DVB-ASI and SD-SDI interfaces as megacores and can be accessed in Quartus 6.0 and later. Altera also offers the Video over IP reference design (AN 374).

The board includes on board 27Mhz clock, an external SMA clock input, ASI cable driver, equalizer and 75-ohm BNC connectors for implementing and testing video related functions. The board is powered through the NIOS II kit. Altera also provides ASI loopback and video over IP reference designs that can used with this board.
